Riga artist Evija Vēbere warps minds with her shapeshifting new single “Puk Puk”. On her beguiling electronic pop experiment, Vēbere weaves a spell of surreal sonic escapism like no other. Composed of sampled laughter and verse, the track dissolves divisions in a fog of dreaming electronics. Spacey notes and bubbles of euphoria, constantly evolving into new forms every sixty seconds.

Hidden behind the enchanting veil of the show is the perfect symbiosis of art forms. Vēbere connected friend Marija Luīze Meļķe’s poetry with her own brand of playful sonic alchemy, recasting verse through production. Her endless desire to explore makes Vēbere construct media as smoothly as she defines the genre. The spell of the song is casted even fuller in the accompanying video. Choreographed by dancer Jana Jacuka, it translates movement as the visualization of Vēbere’s creative purpose. Shot in DAS Theatre, the scenes are as dreamlike as visions, adding even more mysticism to the atmospheric track.

Thus, with “Puk Puk”, Vēbere contributes another mystery to her magical opus. She is never satisfied with making art within the confines of a box, but instead takes listeners on a stream of consciousness that does not fit within the realm of a box or definition. Vēbere’s work is a testimony to the fact that she is one of the artists who are pushing the boundaries of art. Listening to “Puk Puk”, the audience is transported to a world of Vēbere’s creation. Hers is a progressive dream that is set to open horizons and create the next generation of creative thinkers beyond the last throes of the hallucinogenic beats. In Vēbere, Latvia has created its most enchanting witch.
