The Norwegian neo-prog visionaries Transcending Into the Unknown are shaping the future of creative rock with their latest epic undertaking “Chronos”. Harnessing a cosmic amalgam of prog complexity, visceral aggression, and celestial atmospheres, the innovative band sculpt an enthralling new realm of sonic exploration.
The band originates from Trondheim and is formed by Filip, Robert and Stian Dahl who are able to play on almost every instrument and with every record they create a new musical genre. On “Chronos”, they incorporate the ethereal vocal of the guest singer Eva Halsetrønning Rambraut to the rhythmic and pulsating tune of the song .On surging passages that pay homage to Opeth’s melodic prowess and Ghost’s dark rock’n’roll, the band create a progressive masterpiece. Robert growls vociferously, which pushes the tone to the aggressive low range, thus giving the song’s many shades a great dynamic range. On the other hand, Filip and Stian are exceptional in their leads and harmonies as well as the intricate structures that reflect their musicality.
But despite all the technical brilliance of “Chronos”, the work is most effective on the level of the heart.
