With driving riffs and an infectious, anthemic spirit, Dutch rock band Rabauw’s latest single “Maakt Niet Uit” is a fist-pumping ode to perseverance and resilience. Once the electrifying opening chords grab your attention the track is never let off its high octane, gritty energy and does not relent until the crashing crescendo. The frontman of “Maakt Niet Uit,” Jascha Soest, has a powerful, impassioned voice that leads “Maakt Niet Uit” over with in your face intensity. He’s clearly so open so bare with so much of a raw authenticity in the delivery of each line that there’s no pretense.
The visceral emotion and frustration brought out in his scorching vocal performance gives you the feeling of that coming through him.Running head first into the instrumentals, thumping rhythms, fiery guitar work, and total headbang worthy barrage of sound combine into a sublime, musical backdrop. Gritty and hard hitting one moment, melodic and soaring the next, you just have to listen to Micha Sprenger’s riffs – absolute showstoppers. There is an exhilarating, unpredictable roller coaster ride that keeps you on your toes and while the stormy undercurrents of angst run beneath, I can only speak for myself, that there is a cathartic, even exhilirating, quality to “Maakt Niet Uit.”
While the lyrics are in Dutch, the universal struggle and resilience of them are universal. If you are a fan of classic or modern rock, you’ll be happy to hear all the crunchy throwback riffs, thunderous grooves, and searing vocals that you will love. Then Rabauw add a bit of a modern bend that makes ‘Maakt Niet Uit’ as appealing to up and coming crowds who demand realness over slick overproduction.More than just a good rock song, it’s an anthem of purpose from a band who certainly has something to say. That it has all the hallmarks of a live showstopper is a formidable introduction to Rabauw’s brand of passionate, heart on sleeve rock ‘n roll.
