‘Nomad’ by ADHD is something startlingly original, something that, not only genre-breaking but also heralded as beautiful, wholly beyond itself, something so good that it’s never going to fit in. This spellbinding instrumental odyssey, through the forward thinking G-Mafia Records, is a sonic odyssey into the ancient acoustic textures merged with futuristic electronic soundscapes to a place where past, present and future sound in unison . But before they could fully get us too ensconced in this trajectory, their aural shifts and detours risk getting us too far lost in the realm of mythic reverie. Bright colours of the textures are cut through by passages of rapid orchestral strings, as some intrepid explorer cuts like a path through the unknown, before receding into the rich land.
Despite appearing to offer up more conventional formal developments—”at every turn ‘Nomad’ undermines conventions and the formal conventions of modernism”— ‘Nomad’ nevertheless embraces an even more abstract and dreamlike construction.
