Sing-Along Songs (Album Version) by Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends is the type of song that remains with you even after it’s over. It’s a combination of Britpop, power pop and pop-punk, and a bit of folk rock. It also has a warm Beatles and Beach Boys vibe in the background. I really enjoyed it on the first listen.

Alien Friend is the person who started the project. Prior to his debut solo project he had been playing guitar and singing in a Swedish band called Redmoon. His music is influenced by the sound of previous generations, but still feels fresh and lively. His songs are very emotional, but also have a lot of fun and playfulness to them. This version is an updated version of a song that he released a couple of years ago. It’s now on his new album, The King and the Sparrow. He has infused it with more energy and added a little more fun, just as he had envisioned the song to sound. You can hear the care in it.

Guitars are bright, energetic and drums are driving the song towards the chorus. The introduction immediately grabs your focus. It’s very well played and still feels loose and happy. Everyone in the band seems to be playing it and having a lot of fun. David Myhr co-produced the song, and his backing vocals in the second and third choruses add something special. They are around Alien Friend and make it sound like a group of old friends singing around one microphone. The parts gave me goosebumps when I heard them the first time.

Alien Friend’s voice is soft and easy, it’s as if it were a late night conversation. The melody then ascends and carries the song along. There are warm moments of love, friends, family and work in the lyrics. There’s happiness in the song, but there’s some feeling too, and that makes it a lasting song. There is enough space for all instruments to be heard clearly and every part comes through. Sing-Along Songs (Album Version) is a song that I would want to share with people that I care about. It’s warm, welcoming and soothing all in one. It’s a tune that is just as enjoyable the second time.
