Country Power Couple Soar to New Heights with Soulful Masterpiece – Music lovers across the country have a lot to look forward to with the new Cliff & Susan’s single of Van Morrison’s classic “Into the Mystic. ” The recording was done at FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals where the couple gave their all to breathe new life into the classic song.
These two have always enjoyed performing the song for the audiences on tour since it always elicits a soulful response. Entering the hallowed halls of FAME they were not going to let this chance slip to bring their live energy to a studio interpretation of the finest order. Cliff’s powerful and expressive vocals are accompanied by guitar, while Susan provides backing vocals and plays Wurlitzer. Other musicians incorporated into the track include Clayton Ivey on organ, Andy Dixon on bass, Scott Todd on guitar, and Justin Holder on drums which adds depth to the track. The recording was produced by a highly experienced Spencer Coats, a producer and engineer who has worked with many artists, and the natural chemistry between Cliff & Susan comes out well.
Their version is a sincere and touching cover of Van Morrison’s song and at the same time adds their own gutsy country soul touch. Taking the emotion that they’ve shared with the song over the years on the road, the two recorded that intensity and passion straight into these grooves. As Susan said, their intention was to respect the spiritual essence of Morrison’s work and at the same time put their own touch and feeling into the song. The end result is that perfect balance – reviving a much-loved tale for a new audience with respect and affection, but never letting Cliff & Susan’s exceptional talents be overshadowed.
