Most recently, I have been on a loop of Nuk’s new song “Ain’t Hiding” and I have the feeling that this song is quite real or real in presentation in some way. In a point in the hip-hop world where everything sounds forced and oversaturated, or heavily trying to trend on memes, this song lands perfectly.

The production is clear but does not attempts to overwhelm or drown what Nuk presents. There is a nice bass which is heard in the chest, and drums which make the heads bobs even if you conscious mind has not processed the order. It is pretty equal with no one overpowering the other, every word is easily comprehensible while the instruments play their parts for the vocals I chose.Nuk’s performance is what captivated me the most. It is very believable to hear him tell the stories of the street. There is no glitz or gloss to it; it reads almost like real life and makes you think that it is all true. His flow is changed at the right intervals, making the listen very pleasant without trying too much to do so.

The hook is good – not overly complicated so as to prescribe to the first law of learning, yet simple enough and designed well enough to leave a mark. This is the kind of music you could chill to in the background while doing other things, but also something you can take time out to sit and listen and try and pick up all the intricate details.Ain’t Hiding’ just sounds like a healthy progression for hip-hop – paying its respects to the old school whilst still sounding brand new. This track is one worth listening to along with any other fan of true street rap that clearly doesn’t need any gimmicks nor trends to sell itself. Nuk has delivered something that feels real and relatable.
