With “Message From Polo” coming to light, PoloMacavelli has put out a modern drill rap with a sensual twist, propelling it to a class of its own. As someone who has grown tired of the monotonously aggressive nature of the genre, the unique vibe and flow of this track captivated me from the start. This is drill at its best when viewed through an understated intimate lens of elegance and sophistication without half losing any edge.

The moment the almost intoxicating and bouncy instrumental drops, you are instantly immersed in a golden velvet perfect for a late night spin or rendezvous. PoloMacavelli’s smooth, self-assured delivery effortlessly floats over the understated production while exuding an utterly intoxicating charm that is hypnotic to say the least. There lies within each of his bars an intense fervor that translates him into an embodiment of modern romanticism while still retaining the hard core essence of drill. And while he is incredibly creative, it is the manner in which he smoothly switches from confident, bold bravado to emotional sincerity is what takes the cake. You can tell he is draped in cool detachment, so to speak, yet the flow I nonchalantly gaze upon dares me to connect wholeheartedly.

PoloMacavelli’s approach to genre-bending has given new life to my passion for hip-hop. With “Message From Polo,” expertly crafted as it is, there is little doubt he is stretching the boundaries where most would have easily capped it. It manifestly shows deep artistic thought behind the seemingly effortless smoothness that begs the listener to delve deeper. It is not another drill rap imitation. The groove is there, and so is the overbearing essence of the genre, but it has been doused with imagination to create an experience that is inviting and bold at the same time. Such primal creativity is a rarity and certifiably an evolutionary leap. It is the work of a neoteric creative who confidently zags where everyone else zigzags. It stands out from the rest of the cluttered competition. He has taken risks that make him a forefront pioneer and a new name to get accustomed to after all.
