The Stockholm based metal band Delightful Delusion with their latest single “The World Can Wait”, delivers a heavy and accessible package about self acceptance and living authentic, from the first verse you feel the message loud and clear, forget what society says and accept right here and now. This sentiment strikes a ringing bell in today’s often unbelievably judgmental, messy world and Delightful Delusion drives home the point with conviction and subtlety.
Musically, it’s a seamless progressive metal meets ridiculously catchy hooks juggernaut. The standout guitar work is spicy riffs and a melodic lead that burrows it’s way into your brain the best way it could. The instrumentation really gets to soar off of that solid foundation provided by the rhythm section, and boy, what vocals they are! Elvira has a powerful voice that carries raw emotion and urgency in each line. Her range is big, especially with this song, with the message being self acceptance and freedom. They are worked to perfection with the harmonies adding depth and richness to the overall sonic experience.
The thing that made “The World Can Wait” so impressive was definitely its ability to make heaviness so accessible. Delightful Delusion are proceeding at a frankly progressive pace, but it’s never alienating or inaccessible. Rather, it encourages all types of listeners to adopt the message and lose themselves in the music, in a world frequently marred by negativity and cynicism. “The World Can Wait is an anthem for those trying to get out from under the shackles of society and owning who they are.” An infectious melody, powerful lyrics, and a very undeniable energy makes this track what it is: something that feels (and sounds) like it needs to be heard – a reminder that life is just too short to allow the world to dictate your happiness.
