As Gothenburg experimental rockers Goia Paranoia peer ever deeper into the void, their new single “Scumbag Tone” proves another astonishing sonic plunge. As a band, they are still relatively young but their songwriting shows that they know a lot more than their age would suggest, and Goia Paranoia is quickly becoming one of the masters of the extreme. Its second single comes after the powerful debut “Black Out” and broadens their rather dark color spectrum even further.
With Scumbag Tony’s guitar work, Maglica has unleashed the filthiest fuzz tone to date in “Scumbag Tone” and the song is even more tar-like. With three minutes of its length, the track takes the listeners into a swamp of post-punk horror, despair and psychedelic mass. Simon Lindberg’s vocals are bright and dark at the same time as always, leading through the changes of the track.
Like their earlier work, Goia Paranoia creates complex situations which engage all the senses. They own the ability to create full-scale environments in terms of texture, atmosphere and emotional tone. Each of them also synchronizes into the most complex of beats as well, attracting heads from beginning to end.
As it is quite clear, this band has attracted praise rather quickly. Goia Paranoia was born out of the influences and came out totally different at the intersection of the influences. There is no question that more ambitious things are in store for Scumbag Tone – their trial by fire debut album “Pandemonium Overdrive” can’t come soon enough. These visionaries are on the verge of international fame as they continue to raise the bar of heavy music to new heights.
