It is immediately striking, near disarmingly self-aware, about the new song by Polish electronic artist Neodym, the song titled INSTA. Many dance songs get you lost in the rhythm and forget the world momentarily, though this song does it in a more advanced manner. It gives you a reason to think when your entire body is in motion to do so. And it is not that easy to pull off that in electronic music.

The song succeeds with that just-right club sound a mixture of EDM, pop and deep-house music, all vibrating in a manner that is alive. And it is not only theory but it has already been tested on the dancefloor. Since her blistering performance at the Launch Dallas Festival where the audience virtually ate the energy on the track, “INSTA” no longer left it in doubt that Neodym does understand how to bring the house down and at the same time retain something significant in the core of the song.

What is really unique about the track is the perspective behind it though. Neodym shifts her focus to our social-media-saturated reality – to the hunt of likes, to the exquisite idealism, to the symbols of luxury that everyone is faking their lives with. And she does so with vocals that are both confident and wise and straddling that thin line between disarming whimsicality and insightful contemplation. She does not rebuke, she simply lights up. And the point lands cleanly.

The actual production is new in a manner that does not scream. The synth sounds and beats are so production-shiny and yet there is something ancient in them as well that old sound, the one that you hear as you take an extended stroll or drive at night. The song is a light one, yet it has some sense . It can be easily placed in a light music list, but it possesses a level of depth to provide you with the reward every time you revisit it.

Performing in Europe as well as airplay in over sixty global radio stations, Neodym has already demonstrated to everyone that she is much more than just another electronic face. “INSTA” cements that. It places her as an artist who is ready to have a mirror up to the digital era – to everything weird, sparkling, obsessive about it – and maintains the beat undeniably. It can be regarded as a hint of what will come next in her next album, Neo-Dance, and it seems to be a promise, and a very good one at that.
