The Las Vegas based trio ALGORERHYTHM pulse with their latest single ‘Social Genocide’ with that certain frenetic energy that still pulses through the veins of many younger modern acts. Formed in 2020, the trio of bassist Tom Nieves, guitarist Karl Christenson, and drummer Brian Hanks has been working the past four years crafting a sound equally awe-inspiring and intransigible: a metal for the masses made heavy and raw in equal parts.

“Social Genocide” is the band’s first statement of intent as a real working studio release. The musicians put their keen observations of contemporary societal ills into a wickedly catchy rock anthem that channels the chaos and overwhelming nature of modern social media; recorded at the city’s own Asteroid M Records, it’s clear the ALGORERHYTHM have no interest in pulling any punches, and from the moment the first riff kicks in it’s clear to hear. Nieves’ rumbling basslines and Hanks’ thunderous drumwork anchor a relentless rhythm section, while Christenson’s blistering guitar work is able to seamlessly split the difference between gnarly power chords and razor sharp lead lines.

The things that elevate “Social Genocide” beyond mere sonic bludgeoning is the band’s tendency to pen infectious hooks and playfully, cheeky lyricism. The vocals are delivered with the perfect combination of unbridled energy and sardonic wit to draw the listener in, and while serving as a cautionary tale, it has a raucous, head bashing good time while cutting through the sometimes murky line dividing the virtual and the real. Social Genocide is a cry for help against the flood of screen based stimuli and an opportunity to unplug and drown in the proneness of rock and roll.
