York is where J.J. Chamberlain is from. He is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter; currently he is soaring high with his career. J.J. Chamberlain is the frontman and creative force behind the acclaimed indie rock band Box Time. Box Time had the opportunity to tour with MammaBear twice when they came to the UK. Through the sunny indie pop anthem “Eyeballs” he is able to brighten the moments in one’s life when things aren’t going as planned with catchy melodies and self-production skills that are bound to be appreciated around the world.
One of J.J. Chamberlain’s standout solo debut tracks, “Eyeballs”, sees the Yorkshire artist glistening with indie rock magic that is almost impossible to resist. Chamberlain uses the local studio to create the guitar layers and allow a pounding rhythm to flow through. He exposes the personal journey of loss and health issues to the public. Through his sincere vocal delivery one can experience the story which is both personal and uplifting.
A hypnotic blend of warm acoustic tones and crunchy electric guitar riffs, reminiscent of the shoegaze style, are the hallmark of the song’s chorus. In this “Eyeballs” song, Takashi Takemura’s long-distance drums are evocative of 90s alt-rock and they overflow with summery color. The Atlantic was not big enough to contain their near-the-telepathic bond.
“Eyeballs” is the one with lyrics that are feeling-filled to express resilience in the songwriting. A song that undoubtedly has earworms, it further strengthens the arrival of this Yorkshire artist with four-minute indie rock magic that will sound and will be remembered forever.
