There are songs that simply make you feel good. Not in a complicated way. Just good. One of those is Ooola Hooora. Once it begins you’re already nodding, when that bassline kicks in you’re all in.

All of the instruments, vocals and sounds were recorded by Sean Tweedley himself in his home studio in Los Angeles. That kind of dedication is demonstrated. It doesn’t sound little and bitty. It’s full and warm and full of life and someone who really enjoys what they’re doing. The song is set on a very nice groove. The acoustic and electric guitars complement each other nicely, and the brief, but lovely, slide guitar moment in the bridge is very much appreciated. Tweedley has admitted that it was his first recording with slide guitar. You’d never know. It fits perfectly.

The song is really about something under all that good feeling. The pull and pull in every one of us, between the harder, rougher and the softer, kinder. It’s a large idea in a really happy package, and it does the job perfectly. His friends said that it made them smile. That is no trifling matter. When music is able to consistently make people feel happy, it’s a true blessing. Ooola Hooora is warm, playful, and it’s all about it. It’s a song that you want to keep coming back to, but you didn’t intend to come back to it—it just keeps coming back to you. This is the kind of song that stays with you naturally
