It’s spacious and rich, but generous with space; every element – the driving rhythm section, atmospheric keys, emotive guitar textures – has room to breathe and contribute to the haunting emotional arc of the song.
Tierney’s vocal performance is the real core of the song. It’s raw, vulnerable and there’s something technically controlled about it that allows for him to convey so much pain and heartfelt acceptance and ultimately a hard won sense of freedom.
