Fenix From Yesterday is impressive from the get-go with RAGE, and the pace doesn’t slow down. The band is definitely aware of the level of intensity they are looking to achieve, and they are all 100% dedicated to delivering it. They’re not afraid to show their full selves from the first riff. Each moment is powerful and focused.
The vocals are raw and honest, as though someone is finally letting it all go. There’s also a wide range in the performance. The voice is angry but at times nears sadness, and is never weak. It is more of a real confrontation than a mere vocal performance.
What’s outstanding is the way the band incorporates electronic sounds into such a dense sound without any impact being lost. With numerous layers beneath the riffs, the mix never becomes overpowering. The guitars, rhythm section, and ambient elements all have their space to breathe, allowing the music to be intense yet controlled.
There’s a pretty good groove to the song. It remains consistent and persistent, providing the track with a strong base to deliver all its aggression. The song remains controlled even in the loudest, biggest moments. Under all the anger and energy, there’s a sense of discipline.
The song is actually about introspection, about dealing with the aspects of oneself that are hard to face. That honesty provides a real reason for the heaviness. There’s no aggression that seems unnecessary or forced. Rather, it is a release, a performance, and crushing instrumentation that gives everything it has.
At the end of the day, “RAGE” leaves an impact inside your brain and can even make you feel a little shaken up in a good way! This is an intense piece of work from Fenix From Yesterday, and it’s obvious this is just the start of their journey. This track is a good sign that they are worth watching for their next release.
