You hit play and the outside world sort of fades out. It’s the only way I can put it. Lost in the Jungle is a seductive game that lures you in slowly and then takes you to another place altogether.

MILYAM’s voice has a rare function. It doesn’t stand on top of the music. It flows through it and around it as if it were part of the sound itself. The word is velvet. Warm and smooth, but never cold or distant, and completely under control. It’s intimate, like a hug.

It creates a whole mood for her. Easy to play percussion, thick layers, good listening arrangement. For this one, wear headphones. There is information contained in there that a small speaker wouldn’t be able to do justice to. It feels like a scene from a film that you don’t know but know. What MILYAM does well is it creates an intimate and large space. It’s actually cinematic, you can hear it, but it doesn’t turn cold or distant. It’s always in there, the feeling.

She has her own label, MILYAM EMPIRE and has already garnered radio rotation and international press play. This shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone after reading this. The artistry is clear. So is the vision. This is a lost in the jungle song. Not noisy or demanding. Just present. You’ll end up coming back to it for no apparent reason. It’s always an indicator of something really good. Its atmosphere lingers long after the final note has faded.
